How to register LAUNCH X431 V( X431 PRO)?

Last week, an American customer bought a X431 V from X431mall.com , but he did not know how to use X431 V.

He did not know how to register X431 V, he found me for help. After I got the CC account and password from him,I helped him registered under USA IP address. I thought this would not be any problems since he is from USA.(Because last time LAUNCH factory told us that , we’d better not help customer register their scanner because of different IP address will bring problems.)After registered for him, he logged into his account, he said everything seemed OK, so we say goodbye to each other, I thought he would have worked well with the scanner all  the time.

But this Monday he found me again, only them did I know that he could not use his scanner for whole week,which surprized me very much.He told me that he could not log into his account on his X431 V scanner by the account set by himself, how it can be? So I installed a X431 V app to my Android phone, and found the same problem.It said the password is incorrect, because I could not input more than 12 digits, but the password created by him is 14 digits, I thought I knew what was the problem.

I reset password to 12 digits to him, and logged in successfully, but there is no serial number to chosse, which means this CC account does not have any product registered. To my amazement, I did register the X431 V scanner for him. I also logged into my computer and checked , everything is OK on  my side. But on his side, he still could not see any product registered under his CC account both on his X431 V scanner and computer.

I thought this is the problem of IP address,the IP is not Synchronous,which will  need help from LAUNCH factory.Finally, LAUNCH help us solve the problem , my customer can logged into his CC account and update the software.

So,I will warn evey X431 V /X431 V+ user:

1.Do not creat password for CC account more than 12 digits, which will prevent you logging into your account by X431 V app.

2.Do not register your X431 V/X431 V+ as soon as the product authority is activated.

Q: Why does the Launch GDS LCD touch screen respond so slowly in cold whether?
A: It is because the ambient temperature is close to the lower limit of operating temperature range (-10-55℃). Under this situation, it is necessary to warm up the machine for 30 minutes before test.

Q: There is only backlight and no character on the screen. What should I do?
A: Check if the power is well connected. Turn off the machine, unplug the power connector and re-plug it. Turn on the machine after it has been connected to the power for 1 second.

Q: Why there is no response or response incorrectly while clicking the X431 GDS screen with touch pen?

How to use Fcar F3-D Heavy Duty Scanner to Read DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

Take F3-D Heavy duty scanner as an example, to diagnose and remove fault, you need first connect F3-D truck diagnostic scanner to diagnostic socket of vehicle, as shown in Pic.4-37. It has special functions as follow, such as engine off-cylinder running, test injection solenoid valve response time, calibrate and replace injector, take rapid sample of engine data, user can limitedly alter ECU program etc. under engine manufacturer restricted working condition or characteristic parameter.

 Maintenance technician can use Fcar car diagnostic tools to enter ECU memory, monitor sensor output, read DTC, And also selectively program options that already exists in system.

Read DTC

Different engine manufacturer, the fault code coding system and interpreter program are different. Such as CAT, Cummins, DETROIT DIESEL, MACK and VOLVO, the fault that each company engine fault code referred to is different. SAE CGATS and engine manufacturer worked together to formulate a standard system about electronic code and its implication, to encourage the whole industry to adopt serial data communication system in engine. SAE has drawn up SAE-J series reference standard, and now has been applied.  

●SAE J1587 this standard enable to have” talk “(information exchange)with diagnostic tool,trip recorder and vehicle information management system,electronic instrument display system and satellite system. In other words, J1587 and J1708 data communication system can provide data of sensor and engine to other control modules of vehicle.
●SAE J1922 and J1939 these two standards enable ECU to communicate with other electronically controlled system such as ABS, drive slip control system(traction control system),to provide data for other electronically controlled systems. Vehicle communication line connects J1922 and J1939 data control interfaces of ECU to other electronically controlled systems, J1939 data transmission system adopts CAN communication protocol.
●SAE J1924 is a standard about microcomputer software compatibility, which enables computer to connect to ECU interface, and explain data signal from ECU, software installed as terminate and stay resident (TSR）.
When use Fcar auto scanner as shown in Pic. 4-36 to decode DTC saved in ECU, the DTC and its definition can be displayed. Referring to DTC and its definition that the scanner displayed, maintenance Technician gradually locate where the fault is, and find the real cause to fault.

To read DTC, the diagnostic connector must be found firstly and then connect with Auto Scan tools(as shown in Pic 4-36).As engines and automakers are different, diagnostic sockets are normally different. Considering diagnostic socket used by some automakers are not standard connectors, the diesel version of Fcar Auto Scan tools are now equipped with diagnostic connectors of common vehicle models, but there are still part of models assembled with different diagnostic connectors because of different requests of manufacturer. I did a lot of research because I did not have a lot of money to throw into a scanner. I have 3 different cars (2004 Town & Country, 2005 300, 2002 Astro). Works great on all of them. I learned while researching these tools that you should check the supported cars list BEFORE you buy a scanner so I did and was happy with that. Don’t listen to people complaining that did not check for their year make and model prior to purchasing. The OTC-3111 ($159.99), the Actron 9580 ($248.44), 9580A($209.99) and 9580AL ($229.99) and the Innova 3150 ($149.00) or 3160 ($179.00) are the scanners in the sub $300 price range (Prices given were the Amazon.com prices when I purchased in November 2012)that claim they can read ABS system codes. The reviews for the Innova ABS customers were all terrible and the customer service was rated ever worse. That bummed me out since I really like the Innova system and was all set to buy one when the reviews at AMAZON made me stop and research a bit more. There is bad review or two for this unit but I had a great experience and it reads my codes well. There are a lot of braking system codes out there and you may need to look up more info for some of the codes but at least you know what they are and what the computer is seeing as causing a problem.

This is because there is less of an industry standard when it comes to brake codes as compared to OBD-II codes. I can’t blame any of the manufacturers of these units for that. Unit came equipped with a nice case, quick start guide, CD with associated software and the FULL User’s Manual, a nice long 6 foot cord to connect to the port in your cars and also a cord for connecting your device to your computer. There was some bitching about updating the device in the reviews posted so I went to the OTC site and they do not have an update for this unit.
Mine was manufactured in late 2011 so I would not expect it to be any more current than this but I am sure they will do some updates in a year or two to read more current model cars. I would buy this unit again. It is not a professional code reader – it is a fairly inexpensive code reader that I think provides the most bang for your bucks. That is the way I shop so I am happy. I would have been equally happy with any of the Actron 9850, 9850A or 9850AL units because they are the same device as this OTC 3111 but they cost $40-$80 more.
